MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines hauled a total of six medals in the recently concluded 7th Asian Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Bangkok, Thailand to finish second overall among competing countries.

Led by world champion Meggie Ochoa, Team Philippines won four gold medals and two bronzes as the lean but mean contingent catapulted themselves to second place in the overall rankings after the competition with 16 countries competing.

Ochoa herself won gold in the female -48kg competition while Kaila Napolis ruled the competition in -52kg.

National team stalwart Annie Ramirez added to the haul as she won the -57kg competition and Dylan Valmores completed the all-female gold medal haul for the Philippines in the +70kg category.

Marc Alexander Lim and Andrea Lois Lao sweetened the country's medal haul with two bronzes in the male -69kg and female -63kg categories, respectively.

The Philippines became only one of two countries who had multiple gold medals in the event with the 14 gold medals shared by only five competing countries.

UAE finished atop the standings with a medal haul of seven golds, five silvers, and four bronzes.

The three remaining golds were distributed among Korea, Jordan and Bahrain with each country taking one gold medal each.
