Suspension ends Yu’s NCAA career

MANILA, Philippines — Fran Yu is ending his collegiate career in a Letran Knights uniform while serving suspension.

This after NCAA commissioner Tonichi Pujante yesterday imposed a one-game suspension on the Letran captain for elbowing St. Benilde’s Mark Sangco on the chin in last Sunday’s Game 2 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Video footages of the incident that had gone viral clearly showed Yu’s offense, which merited an automatic one-game suspension to be served in the deciding Game 3 on Sunday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.

The three-peat-seeking Knights took the opener, 81-75. But the Blazers, eyeing their second title after winning it in 2000, took Game 2, 76-71.
