Sino FC sweeps AIA 7s elims; Manila Digger on a roll

MANILA, Philippines – After more than two grueling months of seven-a-side football in the AIA 7s Football Tournament, Sino FC emerged atop the men’s open division one standings with an immaculate 9-0 slate.
After Sino FC's highly anticipated meeting with Manhur Fatima to close out the eliminations that ended in a 2-1 triumph, Sino FC can now train its sights on its first league title.
Standing on their way is the resurgent Manila Digger, which blew Garelli United off the McKinley Hill Stadium pitch with a 7-1 victory for a 7-0-2 slate.
Manila Digger, the defending league champion, has scored the most goals with 35 while surrendering only seven, both league bests. But the team’s two losses have placed it at second.
Erstwhile leader Manhur Fatima, which has lost steam in the last month, is at third spot with a 6-0 record.
Middle Beast defeated Manila Stars, 5-2, to stake its claim on fourth place.
Rangers FC, 3-1 winners over Spoly FC, finished in fifth with a 5-0-4 record, ahead of Manila Stars that has the same slate but is disadvantaged due to goal difference.
Maharlika Manila continued its late surge as they picked up their third win with a 14-3 shootout win over hapless En Fuego, which finished the season winless at 0-9.
The playoffs begin next Sunday, November 13.
