MANILA, Philippines — Mylene Paat did not let cramps stop her from carrying Chery Tiggo on her back as it repulsed Choco Mucho, 29-27, 18-25, 25-16, 25-20, yesterday to stay unbeaten in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at the PhilSports Arena.
Hobbled by cramps in the fourth set, Paat plodded on, with her stand rubbing off on her teammates as they notched a fourth straight win.
“I’m so thankful that each one of us is contributing and there is a back up when we need one,” said a teary-eyed Paat, who had a conference-high 25 points.
“We really showed courage in this game,” she added.
EJ Laure chipped in 15 hits she laced with booming service aces that sparked a crucial breakaway in the final set while Jelena Cvijovic contributed 10 points apart from doing most of the heavy lifting on defense.
Cza Carandang had her moments too as she silently but effectively made crucial plays with her scoring and blocking and finished with nine hits.
In the nightcap, Kalei Mau-less F2 Logistics stamped its class over PLDT with a 25-19, 25-22, 25-20 triumph that sent it inside the Magic Four at 2-2. The High Speed Hitters fell to 1-3.
