MANILA, Philippines — World champion gymnast Caloy Yulo reigned supreme in his favorite event floor exercise in the 55th All-Japan Seniors Championship Thursday.
Munehiro Kugiyama, Yulo’s Japanese coach, reported the good news that included a silver in the team event and a bronze in the vault in the tourney serving as his preparation for next month’s World Championships in Liverpool, England.
Yulo did not compete in the other apparatus due to an injured finger.
Kiguyama said they will fly to Paris, France next month as part of Yulo’s buildup for the Worlds slated Oct. 29 to Nov. 6.
“A month later, we will go to pre-camp in Paris and then go directly to the World Championships,” he said.
Yulo won the gold in vault and silver in floor exercise in the last edition of the World Championships in Kitakyushu, Japan last year. He also struck gold in the floor in 2019 in Stuttgart, Germany.
