DIMIAO, BOHOL, Philippines — In a spectacular display of brute strength, John Virgel “Valiente” Vitor made short work of Arnon Yupang, demolishing the hapless Thai visitor in just two rounds to seize the World Boxing Organization (WBO) Oriental super featherweight belt in the main event of “Kumong Bol-anon 7” staged by PMI Bohol Boxing Promotions at the full-packed Dimiao Cultural and Multi-Purpose Center here.

In the middle of a fierce exchange of power punches in the second round, the 25-year-old Vitor landed a crushing left hook to the jaw that instantly sent Yupang flat on the mat.

With Yupang writhing in pain and gasping for breath, referee Dandex Tapdasan waved off the bout at the 2:07 mark of round two to the delight of Vitor’s multitude of fans.

Dazed and groggy, the Thai laid prone on the canvas for a few minutes before regaining his senses with the help of some medical personnel.

Vitor, who improved his record to 19-2 now spiked with 12 knockouts, is the fourth regional champion to come out of PMI Bohol Stable under the stewardship of Bohol’s top boxingman Floriezyl Echavez Podot.

The others are Regie “The Filipino Phenom” Suganob (IBF Youth light flyweight), Jake “El Bambino” Amparo (WBF Asia Pacific minimumweight), and Jhunrille Castino (WBF Asia Pacific super bantamweight).

All of them emerged victorious in the highly successful fight card supported by the local government unit of Dimiao headed by Mayor Randolph Ang.

In the co-main event featuring undefeated champions, the IBF ranked No. 6 super flyweight Suganob dominated WBA Asia titlist Andika D’ Golden Boy of Indonesia all throughout their 10-round match en route to a lopsided unanimous decision victory.

The three judges submitted uniform scores of 100-89 all for Suganob, who stretched his perfect mark to 12-0 with 3KOs.

The aggressor from the get go, Suganob scored a knockdown midway in round four but Andika quickly got up and was obviously unhurt.

For the rest of the bout, Andika kept on lowering his guard, taunting Suganob to come in and show his stuff to which the slick Boholano brawler gamely obliged to energize the sizeable crowd watching the slam-bang show that lasted late into the night.

It was crystal-clear though that the Indon had no intentions of winning and fought only to last the full distance.

Nevertheless, Suganob jacked up his chances of getting a shot at the world title with his one-sided mauling of Andika.

On the other hand, Castino (12-1, 4KOs) and Amparo (10-3-1, 2KOs) both won by unanimous verdict over Alan Alberca and Ariston Aton, respectively.
