Kai Sotto clarifies post-NBA draft plans, says agent 'misspoke' on Gilas commitment
MANILA, Philippines — Hold your horses, Kai Sotto may not be flying back just yet to the nest of Gilas Pilipinas.
After initial statements by his agent Joel Bell saying that Sotto was headed back to the country to play for the national team in the upcoming third window of the FIBA World Cup Asian qualifiers and the FIBA Asia Cup, Sotto clarified that nothing is set in stone yet.
Thank you to everyone for your support and kind words tonight, I won’t stop pursiung the dream of being in the NBA…..this is not the end. I also want to clarify that no decision has been made about me not playing in the summer league. My agent misspoke.

"No decision has been made about me not playing in the Summer League. My agent misspoke," Sotto tweeted Friday afternoon.
In an earlier interview, Bell had said that Sotto was opting out of the Summer League to play for Gilas instead.
Sotto's clarification was prefaced by a message of gratitude to those that support him, and a promise to continue chasing his goal.
"Thank you to everyone for your support and kind words tonight, I won't stop pursuing the dream of being in the NBA," wrote Sotto.
"This is not the end," he added.
A stint in the NBA Summer League will help Sotto invite some eyes on his game after flying relatively under the radar prior to draft night.
Sotto, along with two other players with Filipino heritage, Remy Martin and Ron Harper Jr., did not hear his name called in the draft where 58 prospects were chosen by NBA teams.
Harper Jr., however, signed a two-way contract with the Toronto Raptors shortly after the draft.
