Orcollo shows hot hands in World Pool
MANILA, Philippines — Filipino ace Dennis Orcollo racked up two big victories, including a shutout of Greek defending champion Alexander Kazakis, to march into the quarterfinals of the World Pool Masters Friday night in Gibraltar.
In a fiery start, the veteran cue master outclassed Albania’s Eklert Kaci in the first round, 7-4, and completely overpowered Kazakis in the Last-16, 7-0, to move forward.
Orcollo will gun for a semifinal ticket against either Joshua Fuller of Germany or Skyler Woodward of the United States.
The pride of Surigao has actually won 14 consecutive racks in the competition being held at the Europa Point Sports Complex.
He first wiped out Kaci’s early 4-0 lead with a sweep of the next seven sets to steal the win. He then continued his streak in a master class performance versus the fancied Greek.
