MANILA, Philippines — Eljay Pamisa overpowered Iranian Nima Beygi yesterday to barge into the bantamweight division gold-medal round in the Asian Boxing Confederation Junior and Youth Championships at the Al Hossein Sports City in Amman, Jordan.

The 17-year-old Cagayan de Oro, silver-medal winner in the 2019 Asian Junior Championships in Al Fujaira, UAE, native dazzled Beygi with his punishing counters and deft footwork in securing a spot in the final against Uzbek Abduvali Buriboev, who progressed in winning his protest over his semis duel with Indian Anand Yadav.
