Jerry Yee back as Petro Gazz head coach

MANILA, Philippines — Jerry Yee reclaimed his old spot at Petro Gazz and will handle the Angels as their new head coach in the 2022 Premier Volleyball League slated March 16 to April 9.

Yee, who handled the franchise’s first two conferences in the league four years ago before being appointed consultant up to last month, had taken over from Arnold Laniog, who remained in the coaching staff.

“It was only a small reshuffle but all staff intact,” Yee told The STAR on Friday.

Yee was former coach of University of the Philippines but he was best known for his stint with Hope Christian School, which dominated high school volleyball in the country during his time.

Yee will inherit a newly revamped roster spearheaded by the power-hitting troika of MJ Philips, Jonah Sabete and Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, setter Djanel Cheng and seasoned libero Bang Pineda, who were acquired from disbanded Sta. Lucia, and Nicole Tiamzon from Perlas, which also took a leave.

It also picked up Cienne Cruz and Yeye Gabarda.

They will join Myla Pablo, Gretchel Soltones and Remy Palma.
