Copa kicks off in Carmona

MANILA, Philippines — Combatants see a wide-open race in the Philippines Football League’s Copa Paulino Alcantara that kicks off tonight at the PFF National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite.

Five clubs – Kaya Iloilo, Stallion-Laguna, Mendiola FC 1991, the Azkals Developmental Team and debuting Dynamic Herb-Cebu – engage in a spirited battle for glory in the Cup competition named after the Fil-Spanish legend and Barcelona FC great.

“Everybody has a chance to win,” said Kaya coach Yu Hoshide, whose squad starts its Copa campaign in the lone opening match at 7:30 p.m. against the ADT young guns.
