Chabi Yo bids UST goodbye
MANILA, Philippines — University of Santo Tomas foreign player Soulemane Chabi Yo has decided to forego his final year in the UAAP, reportedly with a plan to strut his stuff in the Spanish league.
Chabi Yo said he originally planned to play his last year with the Tigers but the pandemic stood in the way, leading to his decision to leave the school, according to UST’s official publication, The Varsitarian.
The Beninese cager made heads turn in the 82nd UAAP Season in 2019, winning the Season MVP plum following UST’s runner-up finish under coach Aldin Ayo.
He registered averages of 17.4 points, 14.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists to lead UST’s superb run from being a fourth-seed all the way to the finals where it lost to Ateneo.
