MANILA, Philippines — Chinese Taipei converted on 15 threes to bury Gilas Pilipinas women, 93-52 in the group phase of the 2021 FIBA Women's Asia Cup in Amman, Jordan on Wednesday (early Thursday morning, Manila time).
Going 0-3 against their group, the Filipinas are thus placed on the chopping block for relegation to Division B of the tournament.

It seemed to be a competitive ball game for Gilas against Chinese Taipei in the opening quarter when they were within two early, 15-17.
But turnovers and failure to close out on three pointers doomed the Filipinas as they slowly let Chinese Taipei increase their lead.
At their most dominant, Chinese Taipei led by 43 points.
Afril Bernardino was once again the lone bright spot for Gilas with 24 points, 14 rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block.
Clare Castro, meanwhile, scattered 14 points and six rebounds.
For Chinese Taipei, it was Wen-Yu Lin who led the scoring with 19 points.
