Kai works out in isolation
MANILA, Philippines — Kai Sotto is under mandatory quarantine but has left no stone unturned with non-stop conditioning and individual training to keep himself ready for his upcoming stints with Gilas Pilipinas later this month.
The 7-foot-3 sensation has been conducting his own workouts to stay in tip-top shape, and in an Instagram post showed his own equipment including dumbbells and a stationary bike.
Sotto, who turned 19 last month, is in the first week of isolation since arriving in the country last Monday. He is expected to clear health protocols next week.
The Filipino pride is hoping to make it in time for Gilas’ stints in the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers on June 16-20 in Clark, Pampanga and the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament on June 29-July 4 in Serbia.
He will stay in the country until after the OQT before flying to Australia to join the training camp of his mother club Adelaide 36ers by August.
Sotto signed a multi-year deal with Adelaide last April, when he also reaffirmed his desire to fulfill his duties with the national team.
