Cepeda, 86

MANILA, Philippines — Dominador Cepeda, former Games and Amusements Board (GAB) chairman and member of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) board, passed away last Saturday.

He was 86.

Cepeda served at the GAB’s helm from 1994 to 2001 and was PSC commissioner before that.

Ironically, Cepeda was on the same PSC board as Celso Dayrit, also former president of the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) and head of Philippine Fencing Association (PFA) who died last Thursday after being hospitalized due to COVID-19.

Dayrit was 69.

Cepeda also played an active role in boxing and represented the country in several international boxing bodies including the World Boxing Council (WBC) and World Boxing Association (WBA).

“We recognize his efforts and invaluable contributions to the growth of professional sports in the Philippines,” said current GAB chairman Abraham Mitra of Cepeda. “He is truly an inspiration and his memory will live forever.”
