MANILA, Philippines — Dante Alinsunurin will have a chance to replicate, if not improve, on his silver-medal performance in the Southeast Asian Games as he was re-appointed by the Philippine National Volleyball Federation as the national men’s coach yesterday.
Alinsunurin got his formal re-appointment from PNVF president Ramon Suzara, who also approved the recommendations of the national team and coaches commissions naming Odjie Mamon as national women’s coach and Rhovyl Verayo and Paul John Doloiras as men’s and women’s beach volley mentors.
Serving as Alinsunurin’s assistants are Ariel dela Cruz and Sherwin Meneses while Mamon’s lieutenants are Grace Antigua and Creamline’s Thai coach Tai Bundit.
“After careful and stringent deliberation and evaluation, the federation selected coaches Odjie and Dante, both of whom bring with them impressive and credible credentials,” said Suzara.
The expectation for the new appointees is to improve the country’s performance in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games in Manila where it plucked a men’s volley silver and two beach volley bronzes.
Mamon filled the position that was first offered to many-time UAAP champion Ramil de Jesus, who declined.
