Philippine karatekas bound for Turkey
MANILA, Philippines — Vaccinated or not, Southeast Asian Games karate gold medalist Jamie Lim and the rest of her fellow Tokyo Olympics hopefuls will leave on March 15 for another training camp in Istanbul, Turkey.
“Actually, I have no news about it (vaccination) and I don’t think they have plans,” said Lim in an online interview at the PSC Hour last Friday, ahead of the camp that is part of their preparation for the Olympic qualifier in Paris, France in June.
Despite efforts by the country’s top officials and politicians to prioritize Olympic aspirants, the athletes remain unsure when the vaccines will become available.
The daughter of former PBA star Samboy Lim, however, said they are willing to take the risk.
“We’re going to be super careful going out. There will always be risks but we’re aware of it and really just need to take care,” she said.
