MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines continued to shine in the esports scene as BREN Esports ruled the M2 Mobile Legends: Bang Bang World Championship at the Shangri-La Hotel in Singapore over the weekend.

Led by Finals MVP Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno, the Filipino bets took a gutsy 4-3 series win over Myanmar’s Burmese Ghouls to rule the prestigious world tourney powered by Smart Communications, Inc.

Allan Castromayor, CJ Ribo, Angelo Arcangel and David Charles Canon chipped in needed help for the ML Pro-League Philippines titlist, which bagged the huge $140,000 grand prize (over P6.7 million).

Smart Omega, which finished second behind BREN in the MPL, was the other Philippine squad in the world tilt also participated by Indonesia, Brazil, Russia, Malaysia, Japan and Cambodia.

With BREN’s historic world championship, Filipino esports fans, including top sports patron Manny V. Pangilinan, showed their love to the country’s newest pride.

“Congrats BREN Esports for making history as the first Philippine team to win the M2 World Championship! Now officially the best Mobile Legends team in the world,” said the PLDT chairman and CEO, a major esports supporter.
