Meneses in isolation after positive test
MANILA, Philippines — PBA legend and now Bulakan town Mayor Vergel Meneses has announced on social media that he tested positive for COVID-19.
The 51-year-old basketball great has shown no symptoms at all but because he was so busy performing his duties recently, he decided to take an RT-PCR test that unfortunately came out positive last Thursday.
Meneses assured his constituents that he will continue to perform his duties while in self-isolation. The Bulakan Municipal Hall has also been shut down for disinfection and should re-open tomorrow.
Known as the “Aerial Voyager,” the 1995 PBA MVP is included in the PBA’s 25 Greatest Players. He retired in 2006.
He transitioned to coaching from 2009 to 2018 for his alma mater Jose Rizal U in the NCAA before taking his act to politics. He won the Bulakan, Bulacan mayoralty race in 2019.
