MANILA, Philippines — Tokyo Olympics qualifier Eumir Felix Marcial finally makes his professional boxing debut in Los Angeles on Dec. 16 when he is pitted against Andrew Whitfield of Idaho.

The 25-year-old Marcial turned pro after earning a berth to the Tokyo Games in July. He has been training under Freddie Roach in Los Angeles since October.

The hard-hitting Marcial, who is under MP Promotions, is eyeing a couple of four-rounders before he focuses on his training for the Olympics.

Whitfield carries a 3-1 record with two knockouts. He did not keep himself busy after turning pro in 2016. He last fought in November last year, beating Adam Smith on points.

Marcial dreams of winning the first Olympic gold for the Philippines and become a world champion. His pro debut falls on the 42nd birthday of boxing icon Manny Pacquiao.

“Turning professional is an important step in my journey to the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo,” he said.
