UCFC, Kaya nail 2nd win

MANILA, Philippines — United City FC and Kaya Iloilo stormed to their second consecutive triumphs while Maharlika Manila claimed a historic win Saturday in the Philippines Football League in Carmona, Cavite.

United City, powered by the hat-trick of Bienvenido Maranon, crushed season debutants Mendiola FC, 6-0, for win No. 2 in the bubble tourney at the PFF National Training Center.

Kaya matched UCFC’s six-point card as it went back-to-back at the expense of the Azkals Development Team, 1-0.

Maharlika Manila shared the limelight in Match Day 2 as it upset favored Stallion Laguna, 2-1, for its first club victory.

Spanish gunner Maranon showcased his offensive prowess in UCFC’s comprehensive rout, where he was joined by Senegalese Robert Lopez Mendy and Fil-German Mike Ott in the scoring parade.

Maranon headed in the opening goal just 12 minutes in then blasted a 20-yard shot 13 minutes later before making it 3-0 from the spot just before the end of the first half.
