MANILA, Philippines — Alex Eala has been eliminated from the French Open Girls' Singles tournament following a loss to hometown bet Elsa Jacquemon, 3-6, 2-6, on Friday.

Jacquemon, 17, broke Eala's serve in the fifth game of the opening set to shift momentum to her side after going back and forth with the Filipino in the first four games.

Eala struggled against the French tennister, quickly dropping the first set, 3-6.

The Filipina recovered some momentum at the beginning of the second set, with her back against the wall and took the lead, 2-1.

But the third-seeded Jacquemot proved to be too much for Eala, winning four games in a row to push the Filipina to elimination, 5-2.

Even though Eala tried to mount a comeback, the deficit proved too much as Jacquemot went on to win it all in straight sets.

Eala finishes her French Open campaign with a career-high semifinals finish and is also expected to reach a new career record in the ITF Juniors World Rankings.
