MANILA, Philippines — Add Auburn University to the growing list of US NCAA Division I schools trying to secure the services of Filipino-American teen giant Sage Tolentino.
“I am humbled and honored to receive an offer from Coach Bruce Pearl and the entire Auburn family. All glory to God,” Tolentino posted on Instagram.
The Tigers, who produced NBA legend Charles Barkley, expressed their interest on the seven-foot Tolentino as early as last summer along with Kentucky University. They made an official offer yesterday.
It’s the third D-1 program to court the 16-year-old Hawaii-based center after Kansas U and Tennessee State.
Tolentino also remains as one of the top Gilas Pilipinas prospects both for the youth, cadet and seniors following his impressive play with Maryknoll High School, which he towed to back-to-back state championships in Honolulu.
