This time, who let the Bulldogs out?

MANILA, Philippines — The National University has kept mum in light of the alleged training sessions of its Lady Bulldogs volleyball team despite the ban on such activities for all amateur sports in the country.

The incident, if true, is just the latest involving collegiate clubs. Last week, the UST Tigers were in the news for apparently conducting practices in a secret bubble in Sorsogon. Another similar case involving UST’s junior recruits has stemmed from Cebu.

The IATF, through the Philippine Sports Commission, is looking into the Tigers apparent violation of the health and safety protocols amid the pandemic.

And here come the Lady Bulldogs.

Footages have surfaced on social media over the past days, though most were already taken down, suggesting that the Lady Bulldogs have held workouts despite the restrictions.

Queries have swarmed the NU camp since then but to no avail.

“I have no idea about that. I’m sorry,” was Lady Bulldogs coach Norman Miguel’s curt reply to The STAR.

He did not comment any further.

NU, which previously said it was to issue an official statement, has backtracked and said that it would only release one if necessary. As of presstime, the school has not issued any.
