MANILA, Philippines — Bianca Pagdanganan failed to cash in on an early start and scrambled for another rollercoaster round – a one-over 73 that safely moved her into the final round but dropped her eight strokes off American Danielle Kang and two others in the LPGA Drive On Championship in Toledo, Ohio.
Consistency continued to bug the US-based Filipina shotmaker, who marked her pro debut with a 74 Friday and opened the second round with a bogey-birdie-par-bogey-par-birdie game. Just when she thought she had the Inverness Club course all figured out, she double bogeyed No. 10 and needed to birdie the par-5 13th to save a 36-37 for joint 32nd at 143 before heavy rains halted play for 45 minutes in the afternoon.
Fil-Am Clariss Guce carded a 73 for a 148 to likewise make the cut at 150 but Dottie Ardina faded in afternoon start and limped with a birdie-less 78 marred by four straight bogeys from No. 4 on her way home. She wound up with a 156.
Kang survived the harshest weather with a 73 to cling to the lead at 139 although the world No. 4’s shaky round after a solid 68 enabled England’s Jodi Shadoff and Celine Boutier of France to force a three-way logjam.
