MANILA, Philippines — Triathlon king John Leerams “Rambo” Chicano is looking forward to get back to road action while anticipating the return of his sports soon.
Meanwhile, most of the other national athletes will continue to work and train at home even on a relaxed quarantine restrictions since the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex and the PhilSports Arena in Pasig serve as makeshift facilities for COVID-19 patients.
Same is the case for employees of the Philippine Sports Commission.
But Chicano is among athletes who can start sweating it out on the road now with the transition of modified enhanced community quarantine to general community quarantine in various places.
The 2019 SEA Games gold medalist has slowly restarted his training and conditioning to be in shape anytime the swim-bike-run event is given the go-signal to resume.
“Many events have been cancelled but we need to stay ready. I look forward to upcoming competitions. I vow to train hard and be better in races for my family and our country,” said Chicano in online sports program Go For Gold InterActive.
