MANILA, Philippines — Santo Tomas and Adamson U have been declared UAAP co-champions in the inaugural girls’ basketball following the cancellation of the rest of the high school events due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Junior Growling Tigresses and the Baby Lady Falcons are knotted at 1-1 in their best-of-three championship series before the suspension of the games.

Santo Tomas escaped with a 73-68 win in Game 1 while Adamson retaliated in Game 2, 79-74, to force the winner-take-all match that was called off.

The rubber match was supposed to take place last Friday.

Adamson ace Cris Padilla was hailed as the first MVP of the girls’ tournament.

The cancellation of the championship series was in line with the UAAP decision to call off all high school events after Metro Manila was placed under “community quarantine” beginning today until April 14.
