Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell has tested positive for the coronavirus, ESPN reported on March 12, 2020, hours after the network identified team-mate Rudy Gobert as the first NBA player to test positive for the virus. The report said Mitchell, who averaged 24.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists a game, tested positive in the wake of Gobert's positive case just before Wednesday's schedule tip-off in Oklahoma City.

MANILA, Philippines -- Utah Jazz star Donovan Mitchell tested positive for the coronavirus, ESPN reported Thursday.

Mitchell's teammate, Rudy Gobert, also tested positive for the virus earlier today, prompting the NBA to suspend its season indefinitely.

Per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Gobert was reportedly "careless" in the Utah locker room -- touching other players and their belongings.

Gobert was also recorded touching multiple microphones and cellphones during a press conference as a "joke" on Monday, two days before testing positive for the virus.

Mitchell, along with teammate Fil-Am Jordan Clarkson and the rest of the Utah Jazz, were quarantined at the Chesapeake arena in Oklahoma City Wednesday night (Thursday Manila time) after Gobert's positive result.

The development prompted an abrupt postponement of the Utah Jazz-Oklahoma City game and for players from both teams to be tested for the virus.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, only Mitchell tested positive among the quarantined players from the Jazz.
