MANILA , Philippines — Chery Tiggo survived Maeva Orle’s 50-point explosion in a come-from-behind 18-25, 21-25, 25-22, 28-26, 15-12 win over PLDT in the PSL Grand Prix that was held behind “closed doors” yesterday due to the COVID-19 scare at the Filoil Flying V Centre.
Montenegrin reinforcement Tatjana Bokan saved her best for last against her French counterpart with 35 points on 30 attacks and five aces – none bigger than the back-to-back kills in the thrilling fifth set.
Elaine Kasilag (11) and Rachel Austero (10) backstopped their steady leader as the Crossovers bounced back from a three-set loss to Petron last week to improve to 2-1.
“Credit to the girls for not giving up. We’re down two sets to none but we fought back and managed to win this one. I said to the girls that we should give 120 percent if we want to beat them and we did. There’s no easy win for us,” said Bokan.
Orle waxed hot early and scored 24 in the first two sets alone as the hungry Power Hitters zoomed to a 2-0 lead and moved a set away from barging into the winner’s circle after two defeats.
But the Bokan-led Crossovers refused to give up and won the next two frames, including the fourth frame where they capped a huge comeback after trailing 16-19 and 23-24.
Orle led the Power Hitters (0-3) with her 50 points on 47 attacks.
