MANILA, Philippines — There’s no stopping Kai Sotto from boosting his stock as the next big thing in international basketball.
The 7-foot-2 tower sensation impressed once again with his inclusion in the top five performers of the Phenom Hoops’ two-day Hargrave Military Challenge participated by the best high school players in the US.
With monstrous averages of 24.6 points, 10 rebounds and 3.6 assists for The Skills Factory (TSF) National, Sotto was named to the tournament’s best against a bunch of US NCAA Division I prospects from 15 teams across eight states.
It was a huge follow-up to Sotto’s MVP win last month in the King Invitational where he torched the competition with norms of 27 markers, 10.6 boards, 3.0 assists and 4.3 blocks en route to the championship of TSF.
This superb showing of the 17-year-old Filipino wunderkind caught the interest of the Georgia Bulldogs, according to a report of US college recruitment site Verbal Commits.
Georgia, which also happens to be the residence of Sotto with his squad TSF team in Atlanta, is the latest US NCAA school to express interest in the ex-UAAP MVP after Kentucky, DePaul U, Auburn and Georgia Tech.
Already a four-star recruit, Sotto’s continuous improvement has pushed him inside the Top 100 of the 2020 Class, according to ESPN.
The Gilas Pilipinas youth team standout has not committed to any school yet but with a grade score of 83, he is already no. 68 overall.
Fil-Am gunner Jalen Green, who already represented Team USA in the FIBA U19 World Cup last year, currently ranks first.
