1st Joy Belmonte 10-Ball Open billiards set

QUEZON CITY, Philippines — The Quezon City government will hold a first-ever inter-barangay billiard competition with over P200,000 in cash prizes at stake.

The tournament, dubbed as the first Joy Belmonte Inter-Barangay Amateur 10-Ball Open Billiard Tournament, will run from Feb. 3 to 9 with the aim of showcasing and discovering new generation of Filipino cue artists.

Mayor Belmonte is expected to grace the opening ceremony of the event organized by the Billiards Managers and Players Association of the Philippines (BMPAP).

Representatives from all 142 barangays in all six districts of the city see action in the tournament where the champion gets a cash prize of P100,000 plus trophy while the winning barangay will receive a complete set of billiards table and balls as part of the objective of the event to promote the event in the city.

Second placer will receive a cash prize of P50,000 plus trophy, the third placer gets P25,000 in cash plus trophy, and fourth placer P25,000.

Consolation prizes also await the top 32 players during the elimination round.

Simultaneous double round eliminations will be held in each district where 142 participants will be trimmed down to 64 qualifiers who will then compete in the knockout round.
