Filinvest perfect venue for SEAG obstacle racing

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Filinvest City rolled out the red carpet for the 30th SEA Games and successfully hosted obstacle course race events where the Filipinos swept all six gold medals that were contested.

The competitions were held at the garden city’s Spectrum Midway Avenue as obstacle racing made its debut in the biennial event. Countries that fielded entries in the fast-growing sport were the Philippines, Laos, Indonesia and Malaysia.

The event had a total number of three courses for the six events: two for the men’s team, two for the women’s team, and two for the mixed teams, with a field of play reaching 5 kms with 20 obstacles along the route.

“We are very proud and truly honored to be one of the official venues of the 30th SEA Games.” said Don Ubaldo, Filinvest Alabang Inc. vice president for townships.

“As a full-blown city, we ensure that we have enough green and open spaces for outdoor activities that can cater to international sporting events such as this to give back to the community.”

All 16 athletes for Team Philippines won medals, including 12 golds (behind individual and team events), three silvers and a bronze.

With wide, green open spaces, fresh air, smooth routes and optimum safety, there is no doubt that Filinvest City is prepared to offer competing countries a perfect venue for the obstacle course competition. As the center of convergence in the Metro South, it was also very accessible for the SEA Games participants, the VIPs, and spectators.

Without a doubt, Filinvest City’s partnership with Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC) signified the township as a perfect destination to stage big sporting events such as marathons, fun runs, biking competitions, and now, international sports events like the SEA Games.
