Pinays bow out in floorball

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine women’s floorball squad bowed out of the gold-medal race after a tough 8-1 loss against powerhouse Singapore in Day 3 of the 30th SEA Games floorball competitions at the UP CHK Gym.

Similar to their poor start on way to a 6-3 defeat against the Thais last Tuesday, the Nationals got decked early as the Singaporeans were quick to take command with a 6-0 salvo.

Singapore, the reigning SEA Games floorball champion, maintained the tempo from there for the emphatic seven-point win to keep its slate unblemished at 3-0 on the way to the finals against second-running Thailand.

Nordiana Mohd Yeari and Hui Hui Ong paced the visitors with two goals each while Tiffany Ong, Amanda Yeap, Michelle Lok and Swee Ling Ong netted in one apiece.

Jerylou Berdan was the only bright spot for the Philippines, which suffered its second straight loss after an impressive 8-1 opening-day win against Indonesia.
