Blue Dragons go for elims sweep

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Top seed Diliman College shoots for its 10th straight win while streaking Olivarez College and University of Batangas seek better semis positions against separate rivals today in the PG Flex Linoleum-Universities and Colleges Basketball League at the Olivarez College gym in Parañaque.

The defending champions Diliman Blue Dragons collide with the Technological Institute of the Philippines Engineers at 12 noon with the former out to close out the eight-team, two-stage eliminations undefeated.

Olivarez battles the still winless National College of Business and Arts at 4 p.m. while the UB Brahmans tackle the Philippine Christian University-Dasmariñas at 2 p.m.

Led by Johnel Rey Bauzon and Kevine Steeve Gandjeto, the Blue Dragons of coach Renzy Bajar beat the Engineers, 86-77, in the first round.

Though already assured of twice-to-beat advantage in the semis, the Blue Dragons are determined to hurdle their final assignment in order to gain more confidence going into the semis against the No. 4 team.
