F2-Petron grudge match kicks off PSL Invitational

John Bryan Ulanday - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Arch enemies F2 Logistics and Petron open another chapter in their fabled rivalry when they banner an explosive triple-bill to open the 2019 Philippine Superliga Invitational Conference today at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

Hostilities fire off at 4 p.m. with the Cargo Movers looking to pick up from their All-Filipino Conference championship versus the Blaze Spikers who are out for redemption.

Sta. Lucia and PLDT clash in the opening game right after the inaugural rites starting at 12 noon while Cignal and Foton collide at 6 p.m.

After settling for bridesmaid finishes behind Petron in the past two years, F2 Logistics finally had its turn to hoist the crown last conference with a sweet sweep of the Cignal HD Spikers in the All-Filipino finale.

With momentum and  all-time high confidence, the Cargo Movers set out for a mission to add the Invitationals to their diadem collection with national team standouts Kalei Mau, Dawn Macandili, Aby Maraño and Majoy Baron to spearhead the bid.

The four players, especially Baron who won the Best Middle Blocker citation, are coming from worthy showings with the Philippine team that won a bronze medal in the inaugural ASEAN Grand Prix in Thailand.

But there’s a motivated Petron side aching for a rise back to the top.
