MANILA, Philippines — The National Chess Federation of the Philippines has banned Gerry Millan and Ricardo Ocoy for life due to allegations of cheating and slapped Gomobar Balabagan a two-year ban for alleged involvement in game-fixing.
NCFP president Prospero Pichay Jr. acted on complaints against Millan and Ocoy, who were caught using electronic devices during the recent Torrevillas Cup in Catbalogan, Samar. Balabagan, for his part, committed his act in the Robert Tan Memorial Chess tournament in Cagayan de Oro last June.
