MANILA, Philippines — San Beda kept its mastery of Emilio Aguinaldo College as it hammered out a 98-66 victory yesterday to remain unscathed in the 95th NCAA basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan City.
Later, Lyceum survived a feisty, first-round conqueror Arellano, 93-90, while Letran smashed Jose Rizal, 81-71, to stay joint second at 7-3.
The Lions shook off a shaky start and unleashed a series of runs to run away with their 10th victory in the season and stretch their streak to 24 from last campaign.
The reigning champs also extended their perfect record against EAC, which has now lost all its 22 games to the former since joining the league 11 years ago.
San Beda coach Boyet Fernandez, however, isn’t particularly concerned with the streak. “We’re focused just on finishing in the top two,” he said.
