MANILA, Philippines — The establishment of the first franchise-based esports league in the Philippines came at just the right time.
With esports making its debut on the Southeast Asian Games stage this December, The Nationals have made a good training ground for Filipino esports athletes.
The Nationals features three of the six esports medal events in the SEA Games.
Dota 2, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Tekken 7 are all included in The Nationals' maiden season that kicked off last March.
League commissioner Ren Vitug says it provides a long-term ecosystem for esports in the country, developing talents even beyond the upcoming SEA Games.
