MANILA, Philippines — Over 2,500 athletes and team officials from 11 countries will see action when the Philippines plays host to the ASEAN Para Games 2020.?
Philippine Paralympic Committee president Michael Barredo discussed the preparations for the 10th staging of the Games on Jan. 18-24 during the ASEAN Para Sports Federation (APSF)-Philippine ASEAN Para Games Organizing Committee meeting last Saturday at the Hilton Manila.
APSF president Osoth Bhavilai expressed confidence on the success of the biggest sportsfest for para athletes in the region as well as APSF secretary general Charnvit Munikanond and APSF chief classifier Prof. Datuk Dr. Rokiah Omar.
``Our preparations are on track. As hosts, we will make sure that the Games will go along smoothly and provide a remarkable experience both for the athletes and the officials,’’ said Barredo, Philapgoc co-vice chairman and director general.
A total of 518 events in 16 sports are on tap.
