MANILA, Philippines — Perpetual Help basketball coach Frankie Lim was asked to go on “leave” after his Altas absorbed one of their worst defeats in a long while at the hands of reigning three-peat champion San Beda.
“Coach Frankie Lim is on leave as per the decision of the executive committee of the school,” said UPHSD athletic director Sammy Acaylar in a statement released yesterday.
The Las Piñas-based school was drubbed by San Beda, 56-102, Friday in a game that saw several scoring records being set while sending the Altas to a woeful 2-5 start in NCAA Season 95.
This may have led UPHSD to send Lim on an indefinite leave.
It was a shocking development as Lim, who steered San Beda to a couple of NCAA championships less than a decade ago, instantly brought a winning culture to the squad and led it to a Final Four finish a season ago.
Myk Saguiguit, who coaches the Altalettes, will take over on an interim basis when the Altas clash with the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals Tuesday.
