GT Circuit racing resumes this weekend, Tan shows way
MANILA, Philippines — Circuit car racing’s newest sensation Andre Tan tries to pad his overall lead when Races 6 to 8 of the 12-race 2019 Petron Philippine Motorsports Championships (Phimos) fire off at Clark International Speedway in Pampanga this weekend.
Driving a Honda FD, the 22-year-old international business graduate of Ateneo’s European Studies Program topped the rain-marred Race 5 last month and paced the premier Yokohama Grand Touring (GT) 200 class with 85 points, 11 ahead of teammate Paulo Santos and 20 clear of defending champion Edwin Rodriguez.
Lewy Manio shows the way in the GT 150 class with 79 points and led Russ Agapito by 29 and Justin Neri, the Race 5 winner over Agapito, by 39.
Carlo Angelo Mojica had the luxury of skipping the previous Phimos races at the 4.2-kilometer Clark circuit and still paced the GT 100 and Rookie classes with perfect 80 points each from the first four races. He led both Drew Manio and Jeff Pobadora by 21 in the GT 100 and Pobadora by 24 and Manio by 25 in the greenhorns’ derby.
