‘Bakbakan’ goes full blast
MANILA, Philippines — The inaugural Bakbakan Early Bird 9-Stag Derby goes full blast in five more venues this month.
The upcoming schedules: July 25 at Sta. Monica Cockpit (Bulacan Gamefowl Breeders Association); July 27 at Gallera de Mandaue (Sugbo United Gamefowl Breeders Organization) and Alixandria Cockpit (Zamboanga Gamefowl Breeders Association); July 29 at Bacolor Cockpit (Kapampangan Gamefowl Breeders Association) and July 31 at Pangasinan Coliseum (Breeders Association of Pangasinan-Pangasinense Inc.).
The event format calls for a 2-stag elims, 3-stag semifinals and 4-stag finals. Guaranteed prize is P10 million for an entry fee of P5,500.
Organized by the International Federation of Gamefowl Breeders Associations (FIGBA), the ‘early bird’ series is a firestarter to the annual National Bakbakan 12 -Stag Derby which starts in October.
FIGBA president Ricoy Palmares Jr. said participants are assured of uniformity and fair play since only FIGBA ‘early bird’ stags and locally banded stags from FIGBA member associations will be accepted.
“This policy is in effect since the start of ‘Bakbakan’ in 2001,” said Palmares.
