MANILA, Philippines — Susan Papa, who represented the country in the 1974 Asian Games and went on to become president of the Philippine Swimming League (PSL), passed away last Sunday due to illness.
She was 64.
Papa was the brains behind the PSL that produced promising young talents. She also made a name for herself as a dedicated swimming coach.
Papa made it to the national team at age 11, set records in her time, swam the Southeast Games and later on the 1974 Asian Games in Teheran where she won a bronze medal in the women’s 4x100 medley relay.
Her remains lie in state at the Jacinto Room of the Funeraria Paz at the Manila Memorial Park in Sucat, Parañaque.
