FEU banishes Ateneo ghost, advances to finals

MANILA, Philippines – The FEU Tamaraws were finally able to exact revenge on tormentors Ateneo Blue Eagles in four sets, 21-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-22, to move on to the finals of the 81st UAAP men's volleyball tourney at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay on Saturday.
FEU, which was booted out of the finals last year by the Katipunan-based squad, made sure not to repeat last season's mistakes.
JP Bugaoan, Richard Solis and Jude Garcia all had big games to steer the Tamaraws to victory.
Despite an opening set victory led by Ateneo's Tony Koyfman and Ron Medalla, the Blue Eagles couldn't overcome FEU.
The Tamaraws return to the finals for the first time in six seasons, facing the winner of the NU-Adamson tussle next weekend.
