SAN JUAN, Philippines – Defending champions DLSU Lady Spikers made quick work of the UE Lady Warriors for their fifth straight victory, 25-17, 25-16, 25-19, in the 81st UAAP women’s volleyball tourney at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan on Wednesday.

DLSU thus secured at least a playoff for a twice-to-beat advantage in the Final Four.

It was a slow start for the Lady Spikers as UE was able to play at pace with the Taft-based squad in the opening set. Despite this, La Salle was able to recover and emerge victorious in the first two sets.

Eager to extend the match, the Lady Warriors brought a tougher fight in the third set. But the Lady Spikers were able to pull through in the end game to sweep UE.

DLSU hopes to end the eliminations on a high when they face the FEU Lady Tamaraws on Sunday.
