Apl.de.ap may replace Bruno Mars

MANILA, Philippines — Apl.de.ap, a Filipino-American artist and member of the Grammy Award-winning group “The Black Eyed Peas,” may replace Bruno Mars as special performer in the opening ceremony of the Southeast Asian Games on Nov. 30 at the Philippine Arena.

Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee (Phisgoc) chairman Alan Peter Cayetano yesterday said they are now communicating with Apl.de.ap to discuss the possibility of the latter performing in the inaugural.

“We’re talking to him,” said Cayetano.

Apl.de.ap, whose birth name is Allan Pineda Lindo, is a worthy replacement for Bruno Mars, who also has Filipino roots.

Apl.de.ap hails from Pampanga.

“Since he’s from Pampanga and grew up in Sapang Bato, why not him,” said Cayetano.

The former Foreign Affairs secretary, however, did not divulge additional details but said everything should be finalized after the national elections.

“We will know everything after May 13,” he said.
