MANILA, Philippines – One-and-done Lady Spiker Des Clemente had a less than desirable outing during their La Salle’s second round meeting against the UP Lady Maroons in the 81st UAAP women’s volleyball tournament.
Despite contributing points for the Lady Spikers, Clemente also had her fair share of errors — including a crucial service error late in the match that sent the Diliman-based volleybelles to match point.
Her performance drew ire from volleyball fans, with more than a handful of netizens “bashing” Clemente after the game.
"Parang nagdodoubt ako na 'service ko na naman' ganyan... binabash po ako nung crowd," she said.
But the Taft-based spiker didn't let her struggles let her down, opting to make it a source of motivation instead.
"After po ng game na yun, sabi ko sa sarili ko babawi ako... prove them wrong," the former Lady Atlas said.
And that's exactly what she did in DLSU's bounce-back win. Facing the younger NU Lady Bulldogs squad, Clemente brought out her A-game.
She finished with nine points in the Lady Spikers' three-set drubbing of NU.
