MANILA, Philippines — PRUride Phl is set to scale new heights following its accreditation by Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), the world’s governing body for cycling, as a UCI 2.2 event, allowing competing riders to collect UCI points for the 2020 Olympics.
Hosted by British life insurer Pru Life UK, the event is slated May 24-26 in Subic, taking riders onto different roads around Bataan and up to the peak of the historic Mt. Samat.
Now on its third year PRUride Phl 2019 is expected to attract more than 2,500 riders from across Asia, competing in other categories including the Masters Race for professionals and the Gran Fondo, a non competitive ride offering 30-, 60- or 100-kilometer options.
The event will also feature a Virtual Race, which uses state-of-the-art technology to simulate a high-speed track cycling virtual game. Participants with the best record times in the elimination rounds during the several mall tours will compete at the grand finals on May 26 in Subic.
Also, riders looking for high-speed circuit action can take part in the Criterium to be held April 7 at Filinvest, Alabang.
Invited to grace the two-weekend cycling festival are PRURide Phl ambassadors and celebrities Zoren Legaspi, Kim Atienza and Gretchen Ho.
