Billiards tryouts for SEAG set
MANILA, Philippines – The Billiards Sports Confederation of the Philippines (BSCP) is opening the doors to any Filipino wanting to join the national team to the 30th SEA Games from November 30 to December 11.
A qualifying tournament will be held from March 11 to 29 at the Gameball billiards center of the Sports Medicine Building inside the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.
According to BSCP secretary-general Robert Mananquil, those who will get past the qualifiers will the chance to face members of the 17-man national pool.
If the qualifiers can prove themselves against the national pool members, they will be included in the SEA Games lineup.
“We want inclusive participation of our billiards players especially the young and undiscovered talents in the country. We want to give them the chance,” said Mananquil.
The move is aimed at forming the best possible team for the SEA Games, which the country is hosting for the fourth time in history.
Ten gold medals will be disputed in this year’s SEA Games, divided in events like pool, carom, English billiards and snooker.
On tap for the SEA Games are men’s 9-ball singles and doubles, men’s 10-ball singles, women’s 9-ball singles and doubles, women’s 10-ball singles, men’s 1-cushion carom singles, men’s English billiards singles, men’s snooker singles and doubles.
