MANILA, Philippines — Hero Foundation, Inc. held the “HERO Golf Cup 2019” on March 1 at the Camp Aguinaldo Golf Club, raising over P1 million in donations and pledges to help fund the educational needs of military orphans.
Now on its 4th year, the recent charity golf tournament exceeded its initial target. drawing 163 participants, more than their initial target. The event tickets, which were inclusive of green fee, lunch, and raffle, had a portion of its price as direct donation of the players to the foundation.
Jamina Alexa Mendez and Jon-jon Tambong, HERO scholars, expressed their heartfelt thanks to all the sponsors and participants through a short message during the program.
“Thank you for being a hero to all of us scholars, your support to the foundation will help us achieve our dreams,” said Alexa, a consistent honor student who never got to meet her father. Corporal Asedelio Mendez died in an encounter in Calauag, Quezon while she was still in her mother’s womb.
